Diverse Team to Officiate Annual North-South Shootout For Immediate Release
Asheboro, NC: Over the last several months, a number of changes have been announced for the ninth annual North-South Shootout ™ for 2011. After eight successful years, the event has been moved to Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC. There will be new management in place for the 2011 event and there will be a host of new personnel. Among the new personnel for 2011, competitors will also encounter many familiar faces. Shootout “veterans” will work alongside Caraway Speedway officials to ensure fair and equitable treatment to all competitors. Some long-time Shootout officials will be taking on new responsibilities while others will remain in their familiar roles. Robert Pettit will serve as the Technical Director under the Caraway Speedway Management for the 2011 installment of the event. Pettit has worked as an official with the North-South Shootout since its inception. He was a long-time official for Southern Modified Auto Racers Tour (SMART) and continues to work as a NASCAR official at Bowman Gray Stadium. A full staff will be available to assist Pettit. Long time veteran Bill Jarrett will take the reign as Race Director. Dale Wolbrink will remain part of the team handling race weekend administrative and handicapping tasks. Caraway Speedway officials will operate in their normal role for the race weekend. Hoosier Tire South will serve as the official race tire supplier for the North-South Shootout. A familiar team led by Gary Freeman will work with racers throughout the weekend. Chad Kepley and the familiar red trailers will be on hand to outfit the competitors and fans alike with North-South Shootout apparel and other souvenirs. For the first time, Joe Larsen, an official with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, will be part of the team as well. Others are expected to join the team in the coming days. Additional information regarding the complete team of officials including those assigned to the SK-Type Modifieds will be forthcoming. Despite all these changes, one thing will remain constant, C&C Racing Promotions' commitment to the competitors and fans that have made the annual North-South Shootout one of short track racing's most prestigious events. The ninth Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout will be presented in loving memory of Charles Kepley, the event founder. Keeping with tradition, the annual event will feature the Tour-Type Modifieds in 125-laps of green flag racing. The Super Late Models, SK-Type Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds and Sportsman will also be part of the excitement.
