QUALIFIER UPDATE

Lexington, NC (October 14th, 2008): They were crowned “Kings of the Mountain” on October 4 th and 5 th respectively and now both Earl Paules and Rusty Smith will be looking to extend their reigns at the 6 th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout next month. Paules, a Shootout regular in both the SK-Type and Modified divisions, scored a win in the Sport Modified main event of the 9 th Annual “King of the Mountain” event to score a guaranteed starting spot in the 50-lapper for the SK-Type Modifieds. Smith continued his domination of the Modified division at Mountain with the victory in the 150-lapper. Smith has never made the trek to the Shootout but is expected to do so this year with the guarantee of a starting spot. By virtue of his victory, Smith also clinched his career first Mountain Speedway Modified track title. It also earned him the 2008 PA Asphalt Modified Series Championship.
